Most Nepal trekking content is written to sell a package. Himalaya Handbook exists to help you plan a great trip and pick a good operator, whether or not you ever book one.

Who this is for

We write for the independent, first-time Himalayan trekker: someone with a real budget, limited time, and a lot of near-identical agency websites to sort through. Our job is to give you the straight answer on cost, route choice, timing and difficulty, so you arrive prepared and don't overpay.

How we source our numbers

The figures and route notes on this site come from primary research with working Nepali trekking and adventure operators. We collect current pricing ranges, seasonal conditions, permit rules and route difficulty directly from the people running these trips, then aggregate and cross-check them before publishing.

We publish real ranges, never a single agency's private rate card.

Costs and rules change fast in Nepal, so we re-survey and update rather than let pages go stale.

How we stay independent

Recommendations are based on what serves the traveler, not on who pays. Where we eventually feature or link operators, we'll say so plainly. Our value is trust, and we intend to keep it.
